As a research intern under Dr Shengdong Zhao at the NUS-HCI lab, I worked on developing a novel custom made finger worn device or a ring. The basic aim of the project was to explore how an electronic ring can be utilised for joint interacton with a mobile phone or a tablet. We also explored the affordances of a ring as a stand-alone device. The project is still active and will be submitted at CHI 2016. Finer details about the project will soon be updated once it reaches the publication stage.
Under the guidance of Dr.Bailly and Dr.Lecolinet, I undertook a project which aimed at controlling inanimate objects in our domestic environment. We explored new devices like pico-projectors and wireless lamps, to establish a point and control interface for interaction. Later on we tried to realize superman’s power of looking through a wall, and this project came to be known as “SuperVision”. It was a part of my Undergraduate Thesis, which led to an article and a poster accepted at the IHM 2014 (conférence francophone sur l'Interaction Homme-Machine). DAAD, the German academic exchange service granted me a scholarship to pursue a summer internship, which turned out to be an experience of a lifetime. I worked in department of Human Computer Interaction, at the Max Planck Institute in Saarbrucken, under the inspiring guidance of Dr. Gilles Bailly. The engaging summer internship at the Central Electronics Engineering and Research Institute in PIlani, India was my introduction to the world of micro-controllers.
